Recently, Zamakona Shipyard delivered the ADAMAS tuna vessel to Al Wusta Fisheries. The vessel has a length of 85 meters, a beam of 14 meters, and a fish hold capacity of 1,800 cubic meters. MARCO was responsible for designing and implementing the hydraulic system and deck equipment of the new tuna vessel, which is a sister ship to the ACILA, also equipped by MARCO. The vessel is equipped with some of MARCO's highest-capacity deck equipment models, enhancing the ship's fishing capacity and facilitating the management of purse seine operations.
Among the installed deck equipment, the purse seine winch model MARCO WS-586 stands out, being one of the highest capacity purse seine winch models in the MARCO range. The MARCO WS-585 winch has a hydraulic power of 850 HP and is driven by eight hydraulic motors. The equipment features three drums driven by the eight hydraulic motors, each one independently controlled hydraulic clutches and brakes, automatic stowage devices, pneumatic delay brakes, and two independent drives, one for the forward line drum and the other for the main line drum and tow line drum. It can work in series/parallel and regulate speed in both directions.
The MARCO Powerblock PB-78 has a drum diameter of 78", made of stainless steel with rubber cleats and is driven by two hydraulic motors. The equipment incorporates MARCO's exclusive "Power Grip" system, which reduces net slippage during hauling.
The vessel also includes a complete set of auxiliary deck winches (topping winches, deck & boom winches, gipsy winch, etc.), including the anchor windlass. The system is powered by an electro-hydraulic central unit with an integrated auxiliary system, ensuring greater operational versatility and minimizing potential system failures.
Another noteworthy piece of equipment is the main boom topping winch MARCO W-1945KBT, which incorporates a triple safety system, including a disc brake that acts directly on the drum, a locking pawl, and a hydraulic counterbalance system on the motor. This system doubles the braking capacity compared to other models on the market, enhancing safety in lifting and lowering the main booms.
The winch is designed to maximize its durability and reduce maintenance costs. Its brake discs are interchangeable with MARCO’s WS series Purse Seine Winches’ discs, and many of its components are interchangeable with those of auxiliary winches of the same series. The equipment has already been successfully installed on various tuna vessels: Galerna Lau of Albacora, Monteraiola of Grupo Calvo, Juan Pablo II & Reina de la Paz of Grupo Jadran, among others.
Additionally, the vessel includes an electric fish handling system, which will speed up and facilitate fish unloading into the ship's tanks.
Finally, the Powerdavit purse davit, thanks to its innovative design, the cable bears less strain and offers cost savings in operation and maintenance compared to traditional davits.
