MARCO will supply a new purse seine winch to the Ecuadorian main tuna vessel owner NIRSA. This project will allow to replace vessel´s the existing purse winch by a WS-415 winch model, which is smaller and more compact. The new equipment will allow to improve vessel´s performance, thanks to be driven by a two-speed radial piston motors, which offers a greater versatility in fishing manoeuvres.
The new purse seine winch will be implemented on El Marquez purse seiner, previously named as Don Italo, was built in 1973 Dockworth Steel Boats shipyard in Florida (USA). The vessel is 41.5 meters long, with a 10.15 meters beam and a fish hold volume of 415 m3.
NIRSA is Ecuador's largest tuna ship owner and operates thirteen tuna vessels, six sardine vessels and eight smaller boats fleet, as well as a tuna processing plant. NIRSA owns Alimentos Real, a well-known brand of frozen food, tinned products, beverages and other products which has graced Ecuadorian tables and international markets for over 60 years.
This contract highlights the Ecuadorian ship owner´s trust on MARCO technology as well as reinforces company´s market leadership in Latam, region where over the past years TH COMPANY has inaugurated different offices in Mexico, Ecuador, and Peru to provide a closer and a better service to its customers.
MARCO will supply an additional winch to the Gijon tuna vessel. The purse seiner was fully equipped with MARCO deck machinery, including MARCO´s WS-587 purse seine winch and PB-56 Power Block.
